Fwd: Good TV Friday

Watching vintage Redd Foxx ....

Beautiful Spring Day

So I tried sitting outside on the patio for the first time in 2013.

1) The birds are used to having the backyard to themselves so I felt stalked by the robins and the crows sitting on the trees waiting for me and the dog to go inside.

2) The house shades the patio so it is colder than it appears.! Damn deceptive sunshine.

3) Leif, the old man cat, makes loud yowling noises whenever both the dog and I leave the house. He is at it again.

Long story short, I am back on the couch, watching Sanford & Son. I will have to enjoy Spring another day.

5 Best Books of 20th Century

Iam back on and a few days ago I voted for best books of the 20th century. Here iswhat I chose. Keep in mind, I picked from a list of books nominated earlier by other goodreads users.

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

Beloved by Toni Morrison

Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

Everything that Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor

Yeah. I like that list. I stand by it.

So...if you did the same list for children's books, what would you choose? Actually that would be a harder list to make@ lots of good kids books to choose from.

Top 5 books for Young children:

Goodnight Moon

Where the Wild Things Are

Green Eggs and Ham

Teddy Bears Picnic

The Polar Express

Top 5 books for middle school & teenage reader:

Harry Potter... No wait, that was published in the 21 st century right?

Hey God, It's Me, Margaret or any Judy Blume book

You know, I don't know much about this age group. When I was a buyer at Borders in thelate 80's I think the popular books were series like The Babysitters club and I would say the serialized mediocre stories were the most important 20 th century young adult book phenomenon. It paved the way for your Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games books of the last 13 years.

5 books I would want to have if stranded on a deserted island: (excluding helpful nonfiction books.)

I know alot of folks would say they would bring the Bible. I wouldn't, at least not the whole bible. Maybe the psalms &; Proverbs or The Gospels

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Outlander by Diane Gab-whatever

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie (a murder mystery set on an island)

A Charlie Brown book...not sure which one but something funny would be necessary

What books do you think are great and/ or worthy of being taken on a three hour tour that ends in being stranded on Gilligans island?

Once again, forgive my typos... I am typing this on a small phone screen that messes up when I try to backtrack & fix mistakes!

A Few LINKS of things which interest me....

On YouTube I have been watching videos on a channel called futureshorts...this video charmed me:
Two involves two people on  a dock, jumping into the water. That is all I will say.

I have been reading the Daily Mail online for gossip and such. I am not proud.
However, it is not all crap in Mail..check out this article about one of the coldest places in the world Oymyakon, Russia. The pictures are beautiful! Click it HERE that article led me to another fascinating article about a family that lived alone in Siberia for 40 years. I have posted a picture from the article here so you can see what their cabin looked like when it was found. Apparently, 40 years alone means no neighbors to complain about housing prices when your house falls to ruins. Click this   LINKY LOO to read the article.

And, as always, if you need a good laugh, I recommend browsing the Comme des Garcons runway fashion show on ...CLICK IT

I have been goofing with the camera on the phone lately. I accidentally found that when I use the 'solarize' effect on the TV it makes the colors quite weird and bright. Here is The Wheel of Fortune. I don't actually watch the Wheel but I figured it would look particularly fun when it was solarized.

Fwd: Picture of Orange Gloves

I have a pair of orange and black gloves that I wear around the house because I believe keeping my hands warm prevents migraines. They are grungy. They are dirty and probably carry bacteria. Each one is missing the pinky. The dog ate the pinkies.

what the fuh...

My blog counter tells me 201 people looked at my post below where I tried to post the music video but could not get it to work. I haven't had 200 readers in AGES, if ever. How is it that such a lame effort gets more attention than when I try really hard...

Sounds like a life lesson....but what is to be learned here...

Don't try so hard?

Mention rap music more often?

You never know what will resonate with others so speak your mind even when it seems like no one
is listening?

Being lame is better than being thoughtful?

Can you see my quandary here? Really unsure what the takeaway is when I see 201 folks visiting on a post I nearly deleted but was too lazy to do so.

Fwd: Picture of a Pillow

This is a recent find that I am really digging. It is a small pillow with a yummy texture. I got it at Kroger of all places(yes Kroger sells household fashion items and Target sells food. Flip Flop.)
